Mobilization campaigns for persons with disabilities and members of the society to become active member in the DPOs in Somalia is held in Mogadishu.
The workshop was awareness raising and sensitization for the PWDs and increased role in the DPO’s decision-making in Somalia and source of the operating income of the organization that may enable them to be operational service providers on the ground.
The one-day workshop was participated by 30 persons with different backgrounds mostly from the PWDs, CSOs and the local authority Banadir region.
The facilitators made a good presentation supportive of all part to ensure solidarity and inclusion of PWDs and people who may not write. Through text papers, PPT presentations, and audio for the visually impaired people.
The workshop started with the Quran and opening made the chairperson of the SDN with key speech for senior participants. The facilitator made their presentation with comprehensive language mostly  Somali version clearly and concisely which has made good understanding for the participants.
The general objective of the workshop
- To mobilize one campaign the persons with disabilities to become active/members of DPOs.
- Coordination of a one-day event for the public outreach the DPOs work and movement participation the PWDs.
- Public campaign to present the DPO’s role in society and the PWD’s role for the decision-making and beneficiary
Expected outcome
- The SDN goal is to strengthen the awareness of persons with disabilities for the DPOs works on society
- Improvement of the DPOs image and scenario for the PWDs participation and the membership criteria
- To enhance the information and knowledge for the PWDs and society the accessibility of the DPOs structure and organs, internal control, and external
