On 04 December 2020 in Mogadishu Somalia national disability network organized large ceremony for the commemoration of the international day for the disability people December 2020. With cooperation of the save children where more than 100 persons participated in the event
The event is coordinated by the DPOs the disabled people organizations member the network which some of them has organized the celebration the day before this day in Many part of the country mainly in Mogadishu. An important day part of the disability week for the more than 1 billion people around the world
Somalia is a country with 2.2 million disabilities among the population who have more problems in the social, culture, environment and the policy in the country. Where there are massive discrimination against the disability people in the public and private institutions operating the country
Somalia is one of the countries signed the CRPD 2019 which help the disability people unique rights for social, culture, economic and development in the country.
Mr. Ahmed save children officer in Mogadishu thanked the good work organized in the event of the IDD 2020 with more participant’s presented high volume speech and jubilation among the team. As save children we are very much appreciating the progress made the Somalia disability people after training session for advocacy and empowerment the DPOs that finally realized the need for the unity among the DPOs where 14 organizations formed jointly network for their own
Mr. Ali Abdullahi Salad told the participants they are standing to take care the disability in the education sector, employment and humanitarian aid work in the country where encourages actors of the university provide disability more scholarships.
Mr. Abdullahi Hussein told the participants they aim of the network is unity, capacity building and fund raising for the member DPOs who came this idea. We stand for the vision and mission of the Somali disability network. Together we can acheve more .
Mr. Ahmed Warsame the director of the disability in the Benedir region local authority thanked the all participants and organizers of the event. We encourage the actors continue the hard work that passed long time.
