On Monday 17 march 2022 CRPD implementation training workshop is held in Mogadishu for the PWDs, DPOs and SCOs. The workshop is participates 20 persons from the disabled people and the non-disabled persons working the social and development. Somalia Disability Network organized the workshop to insure the start of the CRPD implementation in the country to address the gap in the private and public in the country for ToT serving the community outreach and orientation for the disabled people rights.
The workshop was held in SONAD Somalia National Association for the Deaf school located in Howlwadag district Mogadishu Banadir region. SONAD team has provided logistics for the workshop the training hall and equipment that made possible the achievement of this activity. SONAD is deaf school that serve for more than 350 students in three schools based in Mogadishu.
The workshop was jointly coordinated SONAD Somalia National Association for the Deaf, SUB Somali Union for the Blind, SDPDO Somali Disabled People Development Organization , ACSOS Action of Somali Social Workers and SAFDI Somali Association Female disability . most of the participants came from these organizations. The participants took the 50 articles of the convention
Group work was made for the participants, nearly frour groups mixed the organizations with variety topics. Group led SAFDDi topic women and children, Group Two SONAD social service and protection, SUB partnership of development, group ACSOS the implementation of the convention reporting and committee works.
The groups made good presentations in the workshop with topic they worked and answered cross section questions from other groups. This made interactive the workshop that some of the participants acknowledgment best privacies training that give them in-depth information, knowledge and idea of the CRPD the convention rights persons with disabilities.
Leading questions in the workshop
- What the convention was made exclusive for the disabled people
- Who is responsible the implementation of the convention
- How the violation can be sued national or international courts
- Who is the role of the international community for the convention implementation
- What is the role of the PWDs and DPOs for the reporting and committees.

CRDP in Somalia Implementation is project that has target 1100 persons. ToT one hundred persons and community outreach one thousands persons with gender balance in the facilitators and participants. This is part of the SDN objectives and Gaols in the strategic plan that may contribute the empowerment of the human rights activists and DPOs and CSOs leadership to engage inclusive for all service delivery in Banadir region Mogadishu for the 3 million people in the 17 districts.
