On 13 April 2026 in Mogadishu Somalia UDHAN Somali Visually Impaired Youth Organization is proud to launch the Bridge to Inclusive Education Project, an advocacy-driven initiative aimed at promoting inclusive education across Somalia. This program is led by a dedicated volunteer team committed to ensuring equal access to free, quality formal education for children and youth with disabilities in both public and private schools.
The project focuses on raising awareness, strengthening inclusive practices, and fostering collaboration among key stakeholders in the education sector. Through direct engagement, the program will work closely with school decision-makers, teachers, and students to promote understanding, acceptance, and practical inclusion strategies within school environments.
As part of its implementation, the volunteer team will be divided into sub-teams, each conducting weekly school visits. Every week, two different sub-teams will visit at least two schools, engaging school communities through discussions, advocacy sessions, and interactive activities that highlight the importance of inclusive education.
The project aims to reach and engage over 100 schools within one month, creating a strong foundation for long-term systemic change. By building bridges between students with disabilities and educational institutions, the initiative seeks to break down barriers and ensure that no child is left behind.
UDHAN calls upon educators, school leaders, communities, and partners to support this important initiative and join in advancing inclusive education for all across Somalia.
