A highly organized event for the trinational disability people day, 3 December 2023 is held in Mogadishu.  The ceremony is attended by seventy people from various sectors the PWDs, DPOs, CSOs, and youth groups from the local universities. The event was aimed at welcoming the disability people with disabilities.
SDN Somalia Disability Network is a local DPOs Network with more than 15 organizations most of the DPOs serve humanitarian, development, education, health care and advocacy for the protection of disability in Somalia. The chairperson of the SDN made opening remarks words to the participants and briefed the 3 December.
Overall objectives
- Organize international disability people a day on 3 December 2023 in Mogadishu
- United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with, and by persons with disabilities.’
Specific Objectives
- Magnify the international disability people day 3 December 2023
- Advocate the Disability inclusion is subject to the constitutional, national laws, Policies, and international convention of UNCRPD Somalia Signed in 2019
- Performance of disability rights advocacy arts and drama that will cover the violations of the PWDs rights in social the public and private
- The theme of the day is United in Action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with, and by persons with disabilities.
The key speakers in the event
Mr. Yusuf Sh Ali Adow member of the blind said this is one of the days we feel active in society. The PWDs are working hard to ensure the participation of policy and development. We demand support and participation.
Mr. Mahila from the human rights network said we are happy to participate such this event. We are human rights defenders. And the PWDs are the top of priority for the protection. The united Nations and international treaties give protection the PWDs in the world.
Mss. Canab  From the education for all  networks said we are glad to participate the event and we thank the organizers and participants for their work. We call action for the disability people’s rights and the amendment of the draft bill of the disability people to good act helping the PWDs. I am a member of EFASOM we advocate education for all people including children with disabilities.
Mr. Abdullahi Hussein the chairperson of the SDN Somalia Disability Network said today we make this event for the IDPD international disabled people day 3 December 2023 this year the theme is universal health coverage and participation of the disability people. Goal 4 of the SDG2030. Therefore we coal to the work and the government of Somali ensure the protection of the PWDs rights and the inclusion of the DPOs in the cooperation. The chairperson also made an introduction presentation to the TOFI program.
Call to action
- The ODPs and PWDs should be organized and united for the Advocate that the Disability inclusion to pressure the government policymakers and legislators to pass the national act draft bill.
- The OPDs and PWDs are calling to the federal government policymakers and legislators to pass the national act draft bill.
- The OPDs and PWDs are calling to the donors international community, United Nations agencies, EU, and USAID to insure the inclusion partnership for the programs the OPDs s and PWDs
- The ODPs and PWDs are demanding an inclusive platform for all CSOs in Somalia
- The OPDs and PWDs requesting the Government to make Real implementation of UNCRP, which Somalia ratified in 2019 and also submit the State Report to the UNCRP Committee.
