The Somali Disability Network (SDN) held its second-term leadership election on 25 January 2023 for the 2023–2024 term. The election brought together more than 70 participants, including 45 representatives from SDN’s 15 member Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), as well as 25 observers and civil society representatives.
The election was led by the SDN Election Committee, chaired by Mr. Yusuf Sh. Ali Adow. Mr. Abdullahi Hussein Osman was elected Chairperson of the Board of Directors, Ms. Farun Mohamed Elmi as Secretary, and Mr. Omar Abdi Omar as Chairperson of the General Assembly. The election demonstrated SDN’s commitment to democratic leadership, accountability, and inclusive representation of persons with disabilities in Somalia.
