Empowerment of Women and Girls with Disabilities

by admin

On 11 April 2026 Mogadishu Somalia SODWE launched comparing Disability Inclusion Gender. the Women’s and girls’ empowerment in Somalia is essential for building an inclusive, peaceful, and sustainable society. Despite ongoing challenges such as limited access to education, economic opportunities, and participation in decision-making, Somali women and girls continue to show resilience and leadership within their communities.

Promoting empowerment requires strengthening access to quality education, healthcare services, and livelihood opportunities. It also involves addressing harmful social norms and gender-based discrimination. Special attention must be given to women and girls with disabilities to ensure they are not left behind in development efforts.

By supporting inclusive policies, expanding leadership opportunities, and investing in community-based initiatives, stakeholders can help create an environment where women and girls in Somalia can realize their full potential, actively participate in society, and contribute to the country’s social, economic, and political development.
